Virgin Girls Are Like The Fruits On A Tree

“O people! Gabriel came to me from the threshold of God and said: Virgin girls are like the fruits on a tree. When they ripen, they should be plucked. Else, they will be spoiled due to exposure to the rays of the sun, and they will be scattered about due to the blowing of the wind. When girls mature and feel sexual inclinations, there is no remedy for them but a husband. If they do not get married, they are not secure from corruption since they are human (and are not immune from making mistakes).”

Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him And His Progeny)

The Consequences of Dirty Look

The human eye is like other tools. It means if we use it correctly the result will be good and vice versa. We are not allowed to use our eyes as we wish, as we are not allowed to use a knife to injure or kill others. Hence, prohibited items must be known to avoid committing them. For example it is forbidden to look at unfamiliar (Na-Mahram) women. It does not mean that we should close our eyes completely since then we cannot walk or we might fall down on the ground, but it means we can reduce the amount that we see by limiting our view. Imam Sadiq (the sixth Imam of Muslims) said: “One look after another will sow the seeds of desire in the heart, and it is sufficient temptation for the person.” (Wasa’il al-Shi’ah, v.14, p.139)

A dirty look will also tear down the veils of modesty and chastity. There are many people whose life is ruined due to a dirty look. Only for instance it can be said that dirty look of a married man at unfamiliar (Na-Mahram) woman or girl will sow the seeds of desire in his heart and he will be in love with her gradually and it can ruin the family. And it is also forbidden for women because the same reason.

We should remember that dirty look, is a major reason for the spread of adultery.

Exalted Position of Women in Islam

“And when the news of (the birth of) a female (child) is brought to any of them, his face becomes dark, and he is filled with inward grief! He hides himself from the people because of the evil of that whereof he has been informed. Shall he keep her with dishonor or bury her in the earth? Certainly, evil is their decision.” (Quran 16:58-59)

This verse highlights the plight of women before the advent of Islam. During the period of ignorance properly is known. There is a story that reveals the depth of tragedy. The story in short is:

A man came to Prophet Muhammad and said: When I had not embraced Islam, a daughter was born to me and the culture demanded that I bury the daughter as soon as she was born and I did it while my daughter looked at me in disbelief.

When he finished his story, looked up and saw the Prophet Muhammad. The Prophet’s beard was soaked with tears and he said: “If He had been allowed to punish a person for his crimes before embracing Islam, that man would have been the first one to get punished.”

Such inhuman conditions ended with the advent of Islam because the position of women in Islam changed very much.

The Islam expressed that girls should be treated more kindly than boys. Consider the following traditions in this regard.

“Your daughters are your best children.” (Makarim al-Akhlaq, pp.219-220)

One who goes to the bazaar to buy a present for his family is like one who has given some charity to needy people. One must put a higher priority on giving gifts to his daughters over his sons… (Mustadrak al-Wasa’il, v.2, p.615)

Such view of Islam has deep meaning that need another opportunity to explain.
